Limnology is the study of fresh wet contained within continental boundaries. Limnology and the closely related science of oceanography together cover all aquatic ecosystems. Limnology covers lakes, ponds, reservoirs, streams, rivers, wetlands, and estuaries, while oceanography covers the open sea. Course Objectives To: ? Introduce students to basic and fundamental concepts in limnology. ? Equip students with key principles in the characterization and classification of variant freshwater ecosystems ? Provide students with a basic understanding of the habitat and ecology of freshwater systems.
