The officially recognised European GMP Guidelines are currently ornamental GMP 1994 issued by COLIPA and Guidelines for GMP of Cosmetic Products 1995 issued by the Council of Europe. The European Commission DG III is expected to issue Guidelines in the near future.

Part 1 deals with indwelling systems and procedures that should be in place to ensure the effective instruction execution of GMP.
Part 2 covers the critical stages of GMP practiceation throughout the design, developing and production process to the final customer/consumer.
The CTPA recognises that small, medium and enceinte companies will be at varying stages of implementation of the GMP process. These pragmatical guidelines are not intended to lay down nominal standards but are simply intended to be use as a reference document to help members implement GMP and as a tool for continuous improvement. Companies can father hold of sections covering topics with which they need more help.
