mannikin 1 shows the inter pricks of five one-way streets and the cast of cars that enter each intersection from both counselors. For example, I1 shows that 400 cars per minute of arc enter from the top and that 450 cars per hour enter from the left. See the Applications section in Section 6.2 of College Algebra as a reference.

The letters a, b, c, d, e, f, and g salute the number of cars go between the intersections. To keep the trade moving smoothly, the number of cars entering the intersection per hour must reach the number of cars leaving per hour.
1. Describe the situation. In this traffic computer simulation the pictures illustrates that as cars go pop in one direction there is a number of cars coming in that are equivalent to the total number of cars going out. The traffic that flows with b, c and d will remain a constant, and the traffic that flows through the others will change.

Create a system of additive equations using a, b, c, d, e, f, and g that models continually flowing traffic.

e. (I5= e + g = 350 + d),/hr

3. Solve the system of equations. Variables f and g should turn out to be independent. The system of equation we used to find the solutions are a=850-f, b=500-f+g, c=350-f+g, d=550-f+g and e=900-f. With the variables f and g being independent of each other.
